For Terre Des Hommes Germany/Human Resources Center: CREHSS implemented the Baseline of SDG 4 just education ensure equal access to education and opportunities for Children and Young People from Remote Communities in Bajura under Terre des Hommes (TDH) Germany. The objective of the assignment is to carry out study to establish baseline value against each indicator of the project “SDG 4 Just Education: Ensure Equal Access to Education and Opportunities for Children and Young People from Remote Communities in Bajura, Nepal. The specific objectives were 1) To assess current school attendance and dropout trends, with a focus on gender disparities and socio-cultural barriers such as child marriage and discrimination. 2) To evaluate the existing capacities, engagement levels, and functionality of School Management Committees (SMCs), children’s clubs in promoting education. 3) To understand the status of teaching practices and teacher capacities, including the extent to which gender-sensitive and participatory pedagogies are used in classrooms. 4) To examine the current income levels, livelihood activities of families in the project areas. 5) To establish benchmarks for key quantitative and qualitative indicators related to SDG 4, ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education. This study followed a used a cross-sectional concurrent mixed-method design, combining quantitative data for statistical analysis and generalization with qualitative insights to capture experiences, perceptions, and contexts beyond numerical findings. For quantitative, Household Survey with 501 parents/ Guardians and School observation was covered for all the 40 schools present in the study area. For qualitative, the study team designed the survey materials along with the survey design and conducted 41 Interviews, 23 Key Informants Interviews (KII) and 18 Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) while reviewing the Project. CREHSS has prepared a baseline report and shared the key findings with the project team.
