Centre for Research on Environment Health and Social Support (CREHSS) is an independent research organization dedicated to advancing research and development through collaborative efforts with government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), international NGOs (INGOs), community-based organizations, public institutions, and philanthropic foundations.
Managed by a multidisciplinary team of committed development professionals, CREHSS strives to contribute meaningfully to sustainable development and shared prosperity. The organization is led by a core team of approximately 11 regular staff members, which includes the Team Leader, Research Director, Research Manager, Senior Consultant, Research Associate, Research Officer, Data Analyst, Data Management Officer, Research Assistant, Administrative Assistant, and Office Assistant. In addition to its core team, CREHSS maintains a strong network of over 100 part-time professionals and technical experts who contribute to various research activities on an assignment basis.
Established on October 31, 2018, CREHSS has demonstrated a solid track record in conducting high-quality quantitative and qualitative research studies. Since its inception, the organization has completed 95 research studies, with 4 studies currently in progress. CREHSS’s research portfolio spans a wide range of multidisciplinary fields, with a strong focus on health system strengthening and public health domains, including maternal and child health, family planning, reproductive health, menstrual hygiene, HIV/AIDS, and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene). The organization also undertakes studies in the social sciences, addressing critical issues such as livelihoods, disaster management, and violence prevention.
CREHSS has extensive experience in conducting various types of surveys, including household-level, facility-based, and school-based assessments, and has implemented baseline, midline, and endline/evaluation studies using robust mixed-method approaches. The organization has successfully managed large-scale surveys, with sample sizes reaching up to 13,000 households.
In recent years, CREHSS has expanded its geographic and thematic scope by leading multi-country research projects in partnership with reputable organizations such as Family Health International Nepal, Save the Children Nepal, World Vision International Nepal and Helen Keller International, iDE Nepal, and Vitamin Angel Alliance, Inc. Through its commitment to methodological rigor and evidence-based practice, CREHSS continues to serve as a key research partner in shaping policies and programs that promote health, equity, and social development.
